Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust [NNUH]

The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital is a 1000-bed teaching hospital facility that opened in 2001. It houses a broad range of clinical disciplines which, along with the partner hospitals and General Practice within the East Anglian Clinical Training Centre, offers learning across the full scope of the SGU Clinical curriculum, including all core attachments and numerous electives. The NNUH is a teaching hospital in partnership with Norwich Medical school and adjacent to the main University of East Anglia (UEA) campus and Norwich Research Park creating a vibrant academic and research environment to which all students are exposed during their studies. The faculty, as well as being clinicians with recognised regional and national profiles, are also highly trained clinical educators with a proven record of excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate training. Many attract tertiary referrals from across the East of England region to their specialised services. Students are therefore exposed to patients with a wide range of clinical problems and have opportunities to work within teams offering the most up to date, innovative treatments. Educational facilities on campus are based in the hospital, the Norfolk & Norwich Institute of Medical Education and the Bob Champion Research & Education Building and include Simulation, virtual reality and Clinical Skills laboratories and an extensive library. Norwich is a fascinating city with a wealth of historic and cultural interest from its Roman origins, through its Norman castle and 11th Century cathedral, to a multiplicity of modern arts, music and theatre venues. Being the most complete medieval city in the UK, it has a flourishing arts, music and cultural scene, superb independent as well as High Street shopping, and a heritage that is a delight to explore. It was also England’s first UNESCO City of Literature. The surrounding county has beautiful wetlands [the Norfolk Broads], coastline and countryside providing a huge variety of sport and leisure activities.
