If a student loses eligibility for financial aid, the student may submit a written appeal with supporting documentation to the Director of Financial Aid petitioning for reconsideration of eligibility for financial aid based on extenuating circumstances.

The appeal must include all of the following information:

  • The extenuating circumstances beyond the student’s control that resulted in failure to meet SAP requirements (e.g., death of a family member, serious illness);
  • What has changed in the student’s situation to resolve the issues that led to the failure to meet SAP; and
  • Why those issues are not expected to affect the student's academic performance in the future.

If all required information is included, the Director of Financial Aid will review the appeal to determine whether it is valid and reasonable and whether the student can reasonably be expected to regain SAP by the end of the next term or within the terms of an academic plan.
