Student may take a leave of absence (LOA) during the Clinical Studies phase. Students who take excessive LOAs for health or other reasons should limit bridge time and remain on track to complete the MD program within the 6-year timeline.
Students should be aware that extending their timeline, although academically advantageous in some circumstances, may reduce their competitiveness in obtaining a residency. In addition, interruptions in a student’s enrollment may affect loan repayment status and loan eligibility for students receiving US federal loans.
