In addition to the requirements in the previous section, UK hospitals require the following:
- Proof of an inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) received within the past 10 years. Students are encouraged to get this vaccination before traveling to the UK. If this is not possible, the vaccination may be obtained in the UK for a fee.
- Upon arrival at UK hospitals, students will undergo blood testing for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), antibodies to hepatitis C (anti-HCV), hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), and possibly other titers. Hospitals may charge students for this testing. Students should request and retain copies of all laboratory results, as they may be required for future hospital placements.
