Student feedback is essential to the continued improvement of the MD Program. Feedback on course and clerkship delivery, instruction, and the clinical learning environment helps SGUSOM improve the education of future physicians. Completion of course and clerkship evaluations is a professional responsibility. Students who fail to participate in the evaluation process are considered non-compliant and unprofessional and may be subject to disciplinary action.
SGUSOM uses a standardized electronic questionnaire to collect student feedback on the core clerkships and the required Family Medicine rotation. This questionnaire is included in Appendix G and is sent automatically to each student at the end of each clerkship. Data from these questionnaires are used by the deans, department chairs, DMEs, and clerkship directors to monitor the educational experience in each clerkship at each hospital. The data also supports the Curriculum Committee's oversight of comparability and quality across the MD Program.
Students receive access to their final clerkship evaluation only after completing and submitting the questionnaire. Responses are confidential. The School can determine which students have participated but does not associate individual responses with individual students.
To support continuous quality improvement and career advising, SGUSOM collects information on graduates' educational and professional outcomes. Students are expected to respond to institutional requests for this information before and after graduation.
