The School of Graduate Studies expects full participation from students enrolled in graduate courses. Students are expected to participate in at least 80% of required course activities or as specified in the course syllabus. Students should view all recordings, read assigned materials, and participate meaningfully in all group and class activities. In discussions and group activities, it is expected that each student will conduct themselves with respect for other students and the course instructors.
In the event of an emergency or unavoidable circumstance, the student is responsible for immediately informing Office of Student Affairs and the Course Instructor in writing of their inability to participate in an activity or to submit required materials. Participation below 80% indicates the student is failing to meet expectations, which may result in academic consequences:
- Referral to the Office of Student Affairs.
- Academic penalties as defined in the course syllabi or Student Manual.
- Professionalism notations in the student’s record.
In cases of misrepresentation of participation (e.g., signing in for another student), students may face disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.
