MAS allows students who are at risk of not making satisfactory academic progress to continue in the program with additional academic advising, support, and monitoring. Academic advisors will also assess students’ progress during the term and make referrals to relevant support services.
To maintain satisfactory academic progress, students must pass all courses in the program and maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 throughout the program. If a student fails a course or the cumulative GPA falls below 3.0 during the program, the student will be placed on MAS and must correct the deficiency within the time allotted by the APRC or the Committee for Academic Progress and Professional Standards (CAPPS). Failure to do so may result in dismissal. Students who are dismissed may appeal through the established SGS appeals process.
Students enrolled in SGS programs, who are placed on MAS, may be given the opportunity to improve their GPA by improving performance in remaining courses, taking additional graduate courses in the respective program, or remediation of courses as allowed by the policies that govern SGS programs.
