The School of Graduate Studies (SGS), established in 1996 and augmented in 1999 with the MD/MPH degree program, provides master’s, doctoral, and postgraduate-level education, including award of Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits and microcredentials, stackable for master's and doctoral degrees. The SGS positions itself to deliver higher education that is responsive to industry workforce needs, including the ethical and professional positioning of artificial intelligence in practice. The SGS is cross-cutting and operates in sync with three schools at St. George’s University (SGU): School of Arts and Sciences (SAS), School of Medicine (SOM), and School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM).
The SGS offers over 60 academic programs. Graduate programs are delivered virtually, directly at the university, or through community-based regional and international partners. All MSc and doctoral programs have a strong focus on community-oriented research towards generating responsive and practical solutions for the SGU stakeholder community. Since the inception of the SGS, research projects for graduate programs have been conducted in more than 40 countries and with as many universities and institutions.
The general policies, procedures, and requirements for earning a graduate degree or credentials follow those of the SGS and are also defined by established policies of the respective academic departments. This Student Manual is subject to change, and policies may be revised during the course of an academic year. The university and the SGS reserve the right to alter, change, or amend these policies and guidelines at any time, without prior notice, either with immediate effect or by a specified timeline. Information contained herein supersedes all previously published versions of SGS student manuals.
Students are required to familiarize with this SGS Student Manual to ensure they are aware of the policies and requirements in effect at the given time. This Manual is not intended and should not be construed to constitute a contract with the university of the SGS.
