III.III Dean’s and Chancellors Letters
- Purpose: To provide official academic/professional documentation specific to a student’s program or stage of training.
- Issuing Authority:
- School of Medicine: Dean, School of Medicine
- School of Veterinary Medicine: Dean, School of Veterinary Medicine
- School of Arts and Sciences: Dean, School of Arts and Sciences
- Graduate Studies Program: Dean, Graduate Studies Program
- These letters are Provided by the Provost, and administered by the Office of the University Registrar, and sent to each student within 4 weeks of the end of each term. No request is necessary for Deans and Chancellors letters. Please contact the Office of the University Registrar if you believe you should be in receipt of such a letter but cannot see it within 4 weeks of the start of the following term in which conditions were met. Please note that WMPG requirements for qualification must be met fully (no rounding) for valid issuance of letters.
III. School-Specific Guidelines
- School of Arts and Sciences
- Students may apply for an LOA before the start of a term or during the term, up to 4:00 p.m. AST on the day before the course’s scheduled final examination (excluding completion examinations) OR to the day before the first examination of final examinations week in academic terms that contain multiple courses with multiple final examinations in the last week.
- Term dates and final examination schedules are published on the Office of the University Registrar webpage on the SGU Portal.
- A student who misses the final or re-sit/completion examination without an approved LOA will receive a grade of “0” for the missed examination(s) and a final course grade of F.
- Students may apply for an LOA before the start of a term or during the term, up to 4:00 p.m. AST on the day before the course’s scheduled final examination (excluding completion examinations) OR to the day before the first examination of final examinations week in academic terms that contain multiple courses with multiple final examinations in the last week.
