Graduate students are responsible for:
- Keeping to the schedule of meetings agreed with the Chair of the Supervisory Committee and for providing regular updates of progress in their graduate study.
- Taking the initiative in raising with the Chair of the Supervisory Committee, problems or difficulties, however elementary they may seem.
- Maintaining good progress of research and graduate course work in accordance with the schedule agreed upon with the Chair of the Supervisory Committee.
- Adhering to the ethics of the profession, encouraging the practice of research and publication consistent with ethical standards.
- Presenting written material as required by the Supervisory Committee in sufficient time to allow for comments and discussion before proceeding to the next stage.
- Making representation to the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies if an effective working relationship is not established with the Chair of the Supervisory Committee, or if, for reasons outside the students’ control, the work is not proceeding satisfactorily.
- Adhering to the intellectual property guidelines of the university.
- Complying with the timely completion of the requirements for the program of study entered.
- Complying with the rules, regulations and guidelines of the program entered.
- Referring student matters to the Dean of Students, as outlined in the student manual.
