Urgent concerns related to the academic program may be addressed prior to the end of the academic period. Any student with issues or concerns relating to their academic program in Terms 1-5 have the option to bring them to the attention of a representative from the Student Government Association (SGA). The usual route for such issues is to then bring them to the attention of the relevant SOM committee (e.g., Student Academic Affairs Committee, Curriculum Committee, Non-academic Affairs Committee). The SGA may then bring the issue to the Office of the Senior Associate Dean of Basic Sciences. A similar process exists during the clinical years, whereby students may raise academic concerns through their SGA representatives, who may then bring such matters to the attention of the Office of the Senior Associate Dean of Clinical Studies for review and appropriate action. This route ensures that issues impacting the class/cohort are efficiently dealt with in a timely manner.
The Senior Associate Dean of Basic Sciences or their delegate meets with students during "Meet the Deans" sessions and separately with the SGA representatives for each term.
