Reporting of Adverse Testing Conditions

Reporting an Irregularity

Any adverse testing conditions that negatively impact a student’s ability to complete an examination must be reported immediately within the examination venue to the chief proctor. If the issue cannot be resolved, the student must request that the chief proctor complete an Irregularity Report at the time of the occurrence.

Immediately after the examination, the student must also notify the course director by email that an Irregularity Report was filed, so that the potentially affected grade can be sequestered pending investigation.

Late or Improperly Submitted Irregularity Reports

Requests for an Irregularity Report cannot be made after the student has left the examination venue. Reports submitted late or without following the required process described above will not be considered.

Review and Resolution of Irregularity Reports

The potentially affected examination grade is sequestered while the irregularity is investigated. If the course director, in consultation with the senior associate dean of basic sciences, determines that the irregularity may have affected the student’s performance, the grade will remain sequestered, and the student may be offered a Completion Examination.

Completion Examination

If offered, the Completion Examination will be administered according to the published Completion Examination schedule for the course. Completion Examinations are offered only on the scheduled date. Students should therefore avoid making travel plans until after that date in case they are required to sit a Completion Examination for medical or other reasons.

In exceptional circumstances it may be necessary to delay the start time or postpone the examination. Students are advised to not make travel arrangements for immediately after an examination to cover this eventuality.
