The St. George’s University School of Medicine (SGUSOM) Four-Year MD Student Manual describes the curriculum, student support services, and requirements for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. It serves as a resource for both incoming and current students enrolled in the Four-Year MD program. Additional policies and procedures for individual basic sciences courses (years one and two) are provided in the respective course syllabi. Information regarding the clinical phase (years three and four) is available in the Clinical Training Manual, which is accessible on the SGU website.
Students enrolled in the Four-Year MD program are subject to the policies and regulations of both the School of Medicine and St. George’s University. The General Policies for All Students and Student Standards, Policies and Nonacademic Procedures are available on the SGU website in the University Manual. In the event of a conflict between School of Medicine and University policies, the School of Medicine policies shall prevail.
This Student Manual is subject to revision during any academic year. SGUSOM reserves the right to revise, amend, or modify these policies and regulations at any time, with or without prior notice, and such changes may take effect immediately or on a specified date. The information contained in this Manual supersedes all previously published versions.
Students are responsible for reviewing this Manual periodically to remain informed of current policies and program requirements. This Manual is provided for informational purposes only and should not be construed as a contract.
Unless otherwise specified, references to "the first year," "year two," and similar terms refer to the corresponding years within the Four-Year MD program and do not include any prior premedical or preclinical education.
