VSGP 860: Diagnostic Cytology of Solid Masses

Class Program
Credits 2

This course encompasses formal and interactive lectures, and lab sessions in diagnostic cytology.  Case studies of various types of masses of the skin and internal organs with the help of available slide archives are used to study microscopic evaluation and interpretation of inflammatory and neoplastic lesions.  Collection of cytology samples by Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA), needle only aspiration and touch imprints from lymph nodes, liver or any skin masses from available necropsy cases is also the main feature of lab work.  An cased-based assignment is a required part of this course, which will include a short presentation and a written report.
