All clinical clerkships are arranged through the Office of Clinical Education Operations. The Office of Clinical Education Operations encompasses the UK Clinical Education Operation team. Placement for UK hospitals is done with the UK Clinical Education Operations team.
Students COMMENCING their 3rd Year clinical rotations
All students entering their first clinical rotation MUST start on one of our UK start dates which are shown below:

3rd Year students who have already completed one or more clinical rotations
Students who have already completed 1 or more of their clinical rotations in the United States and wish to come to the United Kingdom for further 3rd year core rotations must also start on one of the above dates.
Placement Process
Once you have submitted all the required clearances for placement, the US Clerkship Placement Team will notify the UK Office who will then process your placement request according to availability. You will be given the appropriate UK visa paperwork depending on how long you are planning to study in the UK. If you will be studying in the UK for longer than 6 months, you will be provided with a CAS number for your UK Student Visa application.
The UK Office Staff will assist you with any queries which you may have prior to and during your time in the United Kingdom. We look forward to seeing you in the United Kingdom and will endeavour to make your transition from the Basic Sciences to the Clinical Programme as smooth as possible.

4th Year students wanting to complete electives
UK electives must be requested using UK Elective request forms located on the Clinical Portal. 4th year students can start any elective on any date throughout the year as long as it is a Monday. Electives must be a minimum of 4 week duration in the UK.
Clinical Placement Preference Form
You will be asked to complete the Clinical Placement Preference form during Term 5 of Basic Sciences and you should request UK placement on this In addition, you are also required to complete the UK Clinical Placement Request Form if you want UK placement. In order to have your UK Application reviewed, you must have no holds, be health cleared and have completed all of your web-based Sakai requirements. The UK Clinical Education Operations Team will review your application and contact you with the next steps for placement. You will be given the appropriate UK visa paperwork depending on how long you stay in the UK. If you will be studying in the UK for longer than 6 months you will be provided with a CAS number for your UK Student Visa application.
