VSGP 823 - Diagnostic Bacteriology
This course provides skills in clinical veterinary bacteriology, with case histories, examination of direct smears from clinical specimens, isolation and identification of bacterial pathogens, drug susceptibility testing, interpretation, and report writing.
VSGP 844 - Advanced Molecular Techniques
This course focuses on the advanced molecular biology and cell culture techniques used in diagnostic pathology and research.
VSGP 901 - MSc Research Thesis
Students will learn to investigate a specific research question under faculty guidance. Following completion of the IDGS 901 and 902 courses (research proposal writing and presentation), students will engage in data (sample) collection, analysis thereof, interpretation of results, and compilation of an MSc Thesis. Procedures concerning the MSc thesis writing, presentation, submission, and external examination will follow SGS guidelines.
VSGP 920 - PhD Research Proposal
The course involves preparing a PhD research proposal that includes a rationale, an extensive literature review, a hypothesis, goals of the research project, methodology, and a time frame for completing the project.
VSGP 921 - PhD Research Proposal Seminar
This course involves preparing a seminar on the PhD research proposal. The seminar will be public, followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience. The presentation is followed by an oral examination of the student's understanding and knowledge of their research field by members of the Supervisory Committee.
VSGP 923 - PhD Research and Thesis
The research and thesis are core components of the PhD degree. Upon completion of the course, the student shall be able to plan and conduct research, write, and publish independently.
VSGP 924 - PhD Thesis Seminar and Defense
The student will present their completed research work. The seminar will be public, followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience. The presentation is followed by an oral examination of the student's understanding and knowledge of their research field by members of the Supervisory Committee.
VSGP 925 - PhD Progress Seminars
Students present an annual seminar in an open forum on the progress of their research, starting in year 2 of their program.
