PTHB 503 - Veterinary Bacteriology/Mycology

The course will cover bacterial morphology, structure, cultivation, and general principles of diagnosis, pathogenesis, disease transmission, the use of antimicrobial agents and disinfectants, and epidemiological concepts. Students will also focus on major bacterial and fungal pathogens of veterinary importance that cause disease in domestic and pet animals. Concentration will be on morphological features, habitat, transmission, pathogenesis, and related clinical signs, diagnosis, prevention, biosecurity, and control of these pathogens. Zoonotic significance will be integrated, where applicable.
