Integrated Medical Communication is a task-based course that builds on the skills developed in the Foundations for Communication and Foundations for Medical Communications course and is intended to provide multilingual students with more hands-on practice applying and analyzing the medical communication skills necessary for success in their academic and professional pursuits at SGU and beyond. In this course, students will apply the foundational skills necessary for medical communication and move beyond the foundations to explore clinical conditions and their social, cultural and economic implications. Students will hone skills in critical thinking, developing an argument, scholarly reading and writing, academic research and database searches, synthesis and giving presentations. Overall, students will gain confidence in their ability to communicate effectively through the language and culture of medicine.
