The Trust & the Hospital
St. Ann's Hospital, Poole

Psychiatry rotations can be undertaken at St Ann’s Hospital which is approximately 3 miles from Poole General Hospital (transport costs must be met by the student). The Hospital has an acute admission ward for all newly admitted patients, two wards (one male, one female) for patients needing intensive treatment, a ward for older patients with functional mental health problems, an Intensive Care Unit and a forensic ward (low secure). People admitted to St Ann’s Hospital are usually in the most acute phase of their illness. The aim of all staff is to stabilise their health needs and return them back to their own home where they will be supported by the Crisis Team and/or their Community Mental Health Team in their own familiar surroundings.
