These include specialist services for rare or complex illnesses for patients across the UK, including liver cancer, colorectal cancer and pseudomyxoma peritonei (a rare lower abdominal cancer). There is also a purpose built diagnosis and treatment centre (DTC) which opened in 2005. North Hampshire Hospital has second, fourth and final year medical students from the University of Southampton and final year students from St George’s Hospital, London as well as electives from other parts of the United Kingdom in addition to taking St George’s University students.
